S.S. Librarianship

a podcast for librarians and the nerds who love them

Hi! We're Alli Sullivan & Sam Mills. We met in a pub the night before our first day of library school, and since then we've been through a lot together - classes, presentations, jobs, weddings, Dungeons & Dragons campaigns - all the while finding ourselves engrossed in wide-ranging conversations about television, film, books, technology, and what it means to be a young, nerdy, lady librarian in the twenty-first century. This podcast is our attempt to share our conversation with you - we hope you enjoy listening, and we hope you'll jump in and join us by sending in a question, comment, or topic for us to discuss on the show!

Episode Twenty-Four - "...your eyes are sore, and it's 3am, but you just can't put it down."

This week, with special guest Erin Fields...

Mind Grapes: Alli's been reading at her age level; Sam thoroughly enjoyed a midwinter action flick's A-list cast; and Erin's all about the historical fiction this week, both on TV and in books.

Class Z(ed): This week, we talk to Erin about her trajectory from teacher to librarian, as well as her current position as the University of British Columbia's Teaching and Learning (Flexible Learning) Librarian. Among other topics, we discuss information literacy instruction, MOOCs, and the changing role of the academic librarian.
